Abstract: The millet varieties with steady increase of yield, higher nutritional quality and more adaptability will be obtained through genetic engineering methods. To understand the current research situation of millet genetic transformation, this paper summarized the key factors which affected the tissue culture, Agrobacterium infection and transformation regeneration system. And the research progress of millet genetic transformation was reviewed. Finally, the bottleneck problem of millet genetic transformation was pointed out, and the future application of Agrobacterium-mediated transformation technology was discussed, which provides useful clues for the establishment of millet genetic transformation system with high efficiency and stability.
