Dormancy and Breaking Methods of‘DF33’

Abstract: Seed dormancy play a key role in seedling emergence, seed storage and commodity quality of Arachis hypogaea. Thus, exploring suitable methods to break seed dormancy is important both for understanding seed dormancy and agricultural practice. With high oleic acid peanut strains'' DF33 for material, in the incubator of 25 ℃, germination test once per day, 7 d statistics germination rate, until the dormancy completely lifted. and this study determined the dynamics of seed dormancy during storage, water uptake and dormancy breaking methods of A. hypogaea strain“DF33”. The results showed that,seed dormancy can last for about 60 days,and release gradually as storage time extended. The relationship between water uptake and time can be described well with Logistic function. All dormancy breaking methods broke seed dormancy to some extent, and 50 mg/Lethephonor continual drying at 40℃was the most effective method to break seed dormancy as well as favoring radicle elongation.
