Abstract: In order to have a deeper understanding about the effect of different tillage modes on paddy field, based on previous studies, the effects of different tillage modes including no-tillage, plow tillage etc. on soil physical properties, chemical properties and biological properties were summarized. The soil physical properties included soil bulk density, porosity, aggregate, moisture and temperature; the chemical properties included contents of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, organic material and trace elements; and the biological properties included microorganism amount and enzyme activity. The advantages and disadvantages of different tillage modes were analyzed. Finally, several suggestions were put forward for the reasonable regulation of paddy soil, such as choosing favorable tillage modes according to local weather, soil condition and cultivation modes; reasonably applying rotation tillage, alternatively applying no-tillage, plow tillage and rotary tillage; combing applying green manure and organic fertilizer and carrying out water-saving cultivation mode.
