Abstract: [Objective]We investigated the growth of young Quercus acutissima through provenance trials to select suitable Quercus acutissima provenance forests for middle Jiangxi province.[Method]Provenance trials of Quercus acutissima was carried out at Yongfeng Guanshan Forest Farm in the Central Jiangxi Province, using randomly complete block design. 2-year-old seedlings of 32 provenances were investigated, including survival rate, tree height, ground diameter and biomass. [Result]The results showed that survival rate of the most of the provenances were more than 89%, annual growth of tree height, ground diameter and plant biomass had greater variability among these provenances. These 32 provenances were divided into three groups by cluster analysis, the first group was superior provenance, including 11 provenances, such as Zhejiang, Guizhou; the second group was poor provenances, the third group was moderate provenances. [Conclusion]The results of this study would provide a guide for preliminary selection of superior provenances in Q.acutissima in the Central Jiangxi Province.
