Abstract: The purpose of this study is to explore the response of artificial pasture to irrigation conditions in Qinghai Lake region and provide reference for its management and sustainable utilization. Photovoltaic pumping system with micro sprinkler was adopted to conduct micro irrigation experiment in mixed sown pasture around Qinghai Lake. Then community structure was investigated, above and under-ground grassland biomass was calculated. Results showed that diversity index, evenness index and ecological dominance index of plant community in the control area were smaller than that of irrigation area. Irrigation promoted the growth of plant leaf, while drought was in favor of the root development. Irrigation effectively improved forage production of artificial pasture. Therefore, the increase of soil moisture could inhibit the growth of indicator species in degraded pasture, benefit grassland restoration, and the artificial pasture around the lake could response well to irrigation.
