Abstract: Abstract: As an important component of terrestrial ecosystem, cropland ecosystem is interfered mainly by human disturbance, but it can self-adjust in a short time and plays an essential role in the global carbon cycle. It is valuable to study the effect of farmland soil organic carbon pool and the influencing factors on global ecosystem carbon balance and the sustainability of soil utilization. Took the basic problems of farmland soil organic carbon pool as the study object, the authors summarized the composition and classification of farmland soil organic carbon pool, the carbon sequestration potential and the influencing factors. The future directions in this research field mainly focused on the sequestration and turnover mechanism of soil organic carbon in different regions, carbon sequestration potential, the influencing degree of different factors, farmland soil carbon cycle process and earth surface process and how to design a reasonable effective farmland management measures in order to achieve the largest carbon sequestration potential.
