Abstract: The study aims to clarify correlation between morphological traits and body weight of Bellamya purificata, and explore the factors affecting body weight. Totally 698 individuals were randomly sampled from Taihu Lake, Yangchenghu Lake and a cultured population in Jiangyin. Data of shell height (SH), shell width (SW), aperture height (AH), aperture width (AW), body whorl height (BWH), body weight (BW) and gender were collected. Correlation analysis and path analysis were conducted. The results showed that there were significant differences in SH, SW, AH, AW, BWH, BW and sex ratio among the three populations. Determinant coefficients showed that the main morphological traits affecting body weight were different among the three populations. However, SH was the factor having the strongest correlation and largest direct effect on body weight, i.e. SH was the main factor affecting body weight.
