Adaptability Evaluation of Maize in Aba Tibetan & Qiang Autonomous Prefecture

Abstract: This study evaluated the cultivated land suitability of maize in Aba Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. The altitude, accumulated temperature, irrigation guarantee, topsoil thickness, available nitrogen, available phosphorus and available potassium were evaluated by the software of“County Land Resource Management Information System V4.0”. The results indicated that the agricultural acreage of highly suitable area was 18.3 thousand hectares, which accounted for 22.38% of the total agricultural acreage in Aba; the agricultural acreage of suitable area was 24.9 thousand hectares, which accounted for 30.42%; the agricultural acreage of reluctantly suitable area was 23.3 thousand hectares, which accounted for 28.48%; the agricultural acreage of not suitable area was 15.3 thousand hectares, which accounted for 18.72%. Besides, the distribution of highly suitable and suitable area in Maoxian was the highest of 8.4 thousand hectares, then was Jiuzhai and Xiaojin of 6.5 and 6.4 thousand hectares respectively. The agricultural acreage of Hongyuan was only 0.1 thousand hectares, which was not suitable for planting maize.
