Abstract: This study aims to realize real-time dynamic monitoring of rice chilling damage and improve the current situation of remote sensing application in southern region. Therefore, it can be a potential data source for intensive chilling damage monitoring of rice. In this paper, early rice chilling process happened in March 2011 is monitored using CLDAS temperature data combined with remote sensing rice planting information and refer to chilling damage monitoring indicators. The results show that: regional temperature change can be effectively expressed by CLDAS temperature data. Combining with the spatial distribution of rice cultivation, chilling damage area and grade of early rice could be accurately supervised. The precision of CLDAS temperature data is high with its error less than 0.5℃ compared to the measured temperature of the meteorological station. The bond of CLDAS data and remote sensing data can be a new and effective way for chilling damage monitoring of early rice.
