Abstract: Ear-kernel traits are important factors in determining yield. To define the characteristics of earkernel traits of different maize inbred lines and provide references for germplasm innovation and high-yield breeding, 211 inbred lines are taken as materials. Statistical analysis and systematic cluster analysis are carried out on ear length, ear diameter, ear rows, row grains, grain length, grain width, grain thickness, 100- grain weight and grain density. The results showed that there were all significant differences in grain traits among the maize inbred lines and there were large variation coefficients except the grain density. The 211 inbred lines were clustered into 7 groups by Euclidean distance method. G6 group had the highest ear length, ear diameter, row grains and grain length, G5 group had the highest grain width and 100- grain weight. Compared with the four parental inbred lines of‘Zhengdan 958’and‘Xian Yu 335’, more than one superior trait of single or multiple inbred lines were found in each of the three groups, providing a basis for improving ear traits in breeding.
