Abstract: To analyze the trait expression differences of standard varieties for the rice (Oryza sativa) DUS testing in Shanghai area, and provide improved and accurate standard varieties for rice variety certification and protection in the plain and hilly areas of the lower reaches of Yangtze River, this study introduced the coefficient of coincidence to the rice DUS testing to analyze the differences between the real trait expressions and the codes in the rice DUS testing guideline from 39 standard varieties in the area based on field experiments from 2015 to 2017, and further optimized the standard varieties of some traits. The results showed that the coefficient of coincidence of 40 traits was 1, accounted for 76.9% of all the 52 traits in the rice DUS testing guideline. The performances of quantitative traits were greatly influenced by environmental conditions. 10 of 12 traits with the coefficient of coincidence less than 1 were quantitative traits. Among the 39 standard varieties of the rice DUS testing guideline, the coefficient of coincidence of 26 standard varieties reached 1, and the performances of their traits were very stable. The coefficient of coincidence of ‘Guangluai 4’ was the lowest, followed by that of ‘ Heuknambyeo’, and the coefficients of coincidence of the other varieties were greater than 0.99. Most varieties could be used as standard varieties for the rice DUS testing in Shanghai area, and further optimization of the standard varieties in some traits were carried out.
