Abstract: The nitrogen fertilizer level and population density are two important factors that affect high yield of rice. To guide the production of‘Shuyou 217’, an experiment is conducted under the double cropping system of rice and wheat in Chengdu Plain in 2016 and 2017. The results showed that the yield reached 10.92 t/hm2 of A4B2 (nitrogen fertilizer 180 kg/hm2, planting density 14.31 hill/m2), increased by 1.19 t/hm2 compared with that of A1B1, which had the lowest yield of 9.78 t/hm2, the growing rate was 12.21%. In addition, A4B1 (nitrogen fertilizer 180 kg/hm2, planting density 20 hill/m2) and A3B2 (nitrogen fertilizer 150 kg/hm2, planting density 14.31 hill/m2) were higher yield combinations. The results reveal that the effect of nitrogen level and transplanting density on yield is significant, but the interaction is not significant. More abundant productive tillers, larger panicles and higher seed setting rate are the main determinants of high yield. When‘Shuyou 217’is planted in Chengdu Plain, the suitable planting density is 14.31 hill/m2 and the suitable nitrogen level is 150-180 kg/hm2.
