Abstract: Formation of plant new organs must be tightly controlled by cell division and differentiation during post-embryonic development. Retinoblastoma-Related (RBR) proteins are plant homolog of the human tumor suppressor Retinoblastoma (RB) protein. As a negative regulator of cell proliferation, it has been proved that RBR is involved in a wide range of plant growth and development processes. In order to gain insight into the mechanism of action of RBR, the authors summarized the characteristics of expression and regulation of RBR in different plants, and reviewed the research progress on the mechanism of RBR1 involved in regulating cell cycle and growth and development of Arabidopsis. The authors propose a regulatory network of RBR1 in which protein-protein interaction is mainly regulatory manner. Furthermore, the authors put forward some questions to be answered in the future and provide some valuable information for the continuous research of RBR in plants.
