Abstract: To speed up the vegetation restoration in the purplish soil engineering erosion area, the author adopted the split-plot design, and carried out an experiment on erosion preventing measures for cultivating Fokienia hodginsii in the purplish soil engineering erosion area and a study on the initial planting density. The results showed that: adopting fish-scale pit preparation or contour reverse slope soil preparation to construct the earth-rockfill dam, using soil stabilizers and laying straws could improve the afforestation survival rate and the growth of Fokienia hodginsii, in which laying straws was most effective; different initial planting densities affected the stand growth status of Fokienia hodginsii, considering the afforestation costs and the adjustment of stand structure, it was more reasonable when the planting spacing was 1.8 m×1.8 m, and the initial planting density was 3086 plants/hm2. The experiment summarizes a set of technical measures for planting Fokienia hodginsii in the purplish soil engineering erosion area, and has certain significance on ecological level or forest cultivation level.
