Abstract: In order to explore the suitable fallow system for the promotion of the Leizhou Peninsula and provide theoretical references which could promote the local farming system’s reformation, this paper analyzed the natural environmental conditions, the agricultural production status and problems in Leizhou Peninsula: serious natural disasters; continuous cropping, serious pests and diseases; the time that partial crop products entered the market overlapped with those which from other places, resulting in lower economic returns for farmers. Therefore, it was sure that: The Leizhou Peninsula had advantaged tropical climate resources which was beneficial to develop agriculture. However, the agricultural production in this region was faced with many constraints, plus its problems on farming system. Leizhou Peninsula agriculture should take winter and spring as the main production seasons, making it a local agricultural leading season gradually. But in the summer, the combination of fallow cultivation and fertilization measures was applied to cultivated land to avoid the harm of bad weather to crop production, and also to make farmland recuperate, recover quickly and increase farmland productivity. The implementation of the production mode “plant in autumn or winter, harvest in spring” would help improve the economic returns in Leizhou Peninsula.
