Abstract: The paper aims to clarify the change of microstructure of sugarbeet under salt stress. In this study, seedlings of sugar beet‘T510’were used for detecting the changes of microscopic morphology in leaves, leaf stalks and roots between control and NaCl treatment (280 mmol/L NaCl). The results showed that the diameter of xylemand phloem in leaves, leaf stalks and roots reduced after salt stress. The stoma was almost kept closedunder salt stress without a handle of slightly opening ones. An increasing volume of stem parenchyma cell was also detected under salt stress. In roots, the thickening of epidermal cell wall and the formation of aerenchyma were found in response to salt stress.
