Abstract: The study aims to screen out initiators for promoting the germination of sugarbeet seeds. The effectsof different initiators on the germination of sugarbeet seeds are studied to provide references for the granulation of sugarbeet pellets. Sugarbeet seed‘TD305’was used as the experimental material, the seeds were treated with distilled water, salicylic acid and gibberellin as initiators. Different soaking times and concentration gradients were set, and the germination potential, germination rate and germination index and vitality index were measured. The results showed that distilled water was suitable for seed germination time of about 30 min. The suitable concentration of salicylic acid was 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.5 mmol/L. The optimum concentration of gibberellin was 0.05, 0.1, 0.2 mmol/L. At the appropriate time and concentration, distilled water, salicylic acid and gibberellin all promoted the germination of sugarbeet seeds, but the too long time or the too high concentration could inhibit the germination. Comparing the three kinds of initiators, in terms of germination potential, distilled water> salicylic acid> gibberellin; in terms of germination rate, distilled water> gibberellin> salicylic acid; in terms of germination index, distilled water> gibberellin> salicylic acid, and in terms of vitality
