Abstract: In order to explore and make use of the germ plasm resource of the Poa pratensis featuring good salt tolerance, the pilot study on the salt tolerance of the germ plasm resource of 14 varieties in the seedling stage has been carried out. The salt tolerance of the Kentucky bluegrass has been evaluated in a comprehensive manner through measuring the salt tolerance coefficient of different varieties under the stress of NaCl of different concentrations and by means of the principal component analysis and the membership function. The results indicate that when the concentration of NaCl is 0.6% rather than 0,0.3%, 0.9% and1.2%, the evaluation of salt tolerance is suitable for the Poa pratensis; eight indexes such as the relative germination rate, the relative vigor index and the average diameter of the relative root system is closely related to the salt tolerance of the Kentucky bluegrass. According to the principal component analysis, the contribution rate of the first three principal components had added up to 84.263% and their proportions in terms of the overall indicators are 0.616, 0.216 and 0.168 respectively. According to the D-Value of comprehensive assessment, the salt tolerance of the Kentucky bluegrass of different varieties has been ranked, and there are several varieties featuring good salt tolerance including ‘Blue Swan’, ‘Merit’, ‘Blue fox’, ‘Kentucky’ and ‘Euromyth’, which are expected to become the dominant species in the coastal region.
