Abstract: NIRS was a new method for quality analyzer in crop breeding. The kernel quality of 686 maize inbred lines in 2000 year-2001year and 1438 cross combinations in 2001year-2002year were analyzed in this paper by using near infrared spectroscopy transmission (NIT) analyzer, which was made by FOSS Company. The heterosis of crude-fat, protein and crude starch in corn kernel and the relativity between hybrids and their parents was discussed also. It showed that the range of variation and the coefficient of variation were larger for crude-fat and protein content, the variance range and the coefficient of variation of crude-starch were lesser, the average content was 4.24%~4.27%,11.75%~12.17% and 71.04%~71.10% respectively for the crude-fat, protein and crude-starch in inbred lines, and was 4.53%~4.86%,9.93%~10.05% and 72.56%~72.74% respectively in cross combinations.
