Abstract: Samples of rice plants gathered from the Long-term Fertilizer Experiment, located in Qiyang, Hunan Province and established in 1975, were used to investigate effects of applying chlorine-containing chemical fertilizers on growth and nutrients absorption of rice. Results indicate that: Application of chlorine-containing chemical fertilizers decreased significantly some nutrients (P, Ca, Mn, Cu, Si) uptake of rice. Otherwise, the application curbed transportation of Cu, Zn, Si and P within plant of rice. As a result, rice grain form ratio was lower and lodging ratio was higher in treatments with the application than treatment without the application.
