Abstract:

The pollution risk of livestock and poultry breeding industry in Fujian province from 1985 to 2005 was assessed through the production amounts of animal manure of livestock and poultry breeding industry and the parameter of cropland load and loss amount. Assessment results are as follows: The production amounts of animal manure of livestock and poultry breeding industry of Fujian in 1985 was 21.8 million tons, and in 2005 reached 42.5 million tons, more than doubled. The average cropland load of animal manure and its N, P2O5 nutrient in 1985 were 15.2 t ? hm-2, 96 kg ? hm-2 and 45 kg ? hm-2; but in 2005 were 29.6 t ? hm-2, 181 kg ? hm-2 and 96 kg ? hm-2. And the loss amounts of N, P2O5, K2O nutrient of animal manure in 1985 were 32,600 t, 7,000 t and 44,700 t; but in 2005 were 60,500 t, 18,500 t and 105,300 t. In 2005, N emissions of livestock and poultry breeding industry in Fujian are 7.4 times the amount of industrial wastewater and 1.9 times the amount of domestic sewage. Hence, the livestock and poultry breeding industry of Fujian Province has become one of the most important pollution sources of eutrophication.
