Abstract: Researches on the smut resistance of the new sugarcane varieties , introduced from home and abroad in recent years, were designed to provide a scientific basis for extending the sugarcane planting in production. Artificial inoculation as well as natural field performance was conducted to evaluate the smut resistance, the results showed that: Taitang88/99, Taitang89/1626 were highly resistant to smut (HR), Ganzhe18 was of the middle resistance(MR), Huguang1, ROC22 and some others 7 ones were of the middle sensitivity to smut (MS), Taitang98/0432, Yunzhe99/601 and other 4 ones were sensitive to smut (S). In terms of the disease resistance and the sugar cane yield, Taitang88/99 was the best, it would be further extended in the demonstration and production; the follows were Huguang1 and Yue96/86, and they would be extended by appropriate cultivation measures in suitable environment.
