Abstract:

In order to find a new plant fungicide, the petroleum ether extract, ethyl acetate and ethanol extract from aerial parts of Tithonia diversifolia were isolated. The antifungal activities of seven plant pathogens were measured with the colonies diameter method. The result showed that the order of the antifungal activities was: ethyl acetate extract>the ethanol extract>petroleum ether extract. The effect of ethyl acetate extract against Fusarium avenaceum in 120 h was the best, and the lowest EC50 was 0.68 mg/mL. Therefore, the secondary metabolites of Tithonia diversifolia had some development potential.
