Abstract:
A pot experiment was conducted to study the impacts of 3 different temperature and air relative humidity conditions of the growth chambers on photosynthetic and physiological characteristic of Betula microphylla, aimed to make sure the recovery effect of photosynthetic and physiological characteristics of leaves after a short-term high temperature and high air relative humidity. The results showed that high temperature and air relative humidity affected on photosynthetic and physiological characteristics of leaves and the growth of B. microphylla. Proline and chlorophyll contents of leaves were lower than control, whereas the soluble sugar and protein contents of leaves could return to normal in recovery phase. These findings indicated that B. microphylla had ability to adapt stress (a short-term high temperature and air relative humidity) and could adapt to changes of temperature and air relative humidity factors through its own physical regulations. It was concluded that B. microphylla could be widely cultivated in and around the coastal towns of Shanghai region.
