Abstract:
In order to clarify the effects of different levels of nitrogen on wheat growth and development, to improve nitrogen use efficiency, to reduce the effect of excessive application of fertilizer on the environment pollution and to increase crop yield. ‘Yumai 49’ has been used for the material, the experiment carried out in the experimental farm of Henan University of Science and Technology with four nitrogen treatment including 120 kg/hm2, 180 kg/hm2, 240 kg/hm2 and 300 kg/hm2, respectively. Plant height, leaf area index, fresh weight and dry weight of leaves, fresh weight and dry weight of stem and sheath, fresh weight and dry weight of root, root volume and chlorophyll, MDA and soluble sugar content in leaves of wheat were studied at booting stage of wheat. The results showed increasing nitrogen within a certain extent could improve the wheat plant height, leaf area index, leaf fresh weight and dry weight, stem and sheath fresh weight and dry weight, root volume, but these were not increase or not significant increase when N exceeded 240 kg/hm2. Chlorophyll and soluble sugar content increased with amount of applied nitrogen increased, but MDA content decreased with amount of applied nitrogen increased. The experiment showed that, within the range of 180-240 kg/hm2 N fertilizer level were favorable to the growth and development during the booting stage in wheat.
