Abstract:
This study investigated the effects of different storage methods on germination and physiological indexes of seed-stem of cassava. The cassava cultivar ‘Xinxuan 048’ and ‘Guire 3’ was used as materials, and the outdoor stockpiling and indoor stockpiling were compared in the studies. The germination, the physiological and biochemical characteristics, the growth of stem and leaf were analyzed during the experiment. The results showed that, not only the seed-stem germination of outdoor stockpiling storage was earlier, but also the germination rate was higher. Among them were ‘Xinxuan 048’ of the germination rate and the germination energy were the highest in outdoor stockpiling storage, they were 100% and 98.89%, and ‘Guire 3’ which the germination rate and the germinationenergy were the lowest in indoor stockpiling storage, they were 94.44% and 77.78%. ‘Xinxuan 048’ and ‘Guire 3’ which malondialdehyde content were outdoor stockpiling storage than indoor reduced respectively 42.41% and 48.90%, the content of free proline increased by 10.44% and 14.41%, soluble sugar increased by 7.91% and 9.14%, and soluble protein increased by 4.88% and 5.36%. The seedling height increased by 5.78% and 8.30%. Stem diameter increased by 10.87% and 11.60%. Also, the ‘Xinxuan 048’ seed-stem germination was earlier, the germination rate was higher, the resistance was stronger than ‘Guire 3’.
