Abstract: Allelopathy is a chemical defense mechanism, which is a universal phenomenon in plants. It plays a significant role in growth, development and competition of plants. In order to solve the problems coming from agricultural production and ecological balance effectively, the paper summarized the allelopathy applications of forage in weed control, mixed planting, biological invasions and ecological restoration, including the research progress, application methods and current problems. For future research on the allelopathy applications of forage, proposed that both laboratory experiments and field experiments should be designed, the environmental conditions in allelopathy should be analysed objectively, the mechanism of allelochemicals should be explored deeply.
