Abstract: Desulfurized gypsum is an effective ameliorant of saline-sodic soil, however, the content of heavy metal is a key factor that limits agricultural resource utilization. In order to grasp the agricultural resource utilization feasibility of JISCO group’s desulfurized gypsum, this study comprehensively determined the nutrients and heavy metal concentrations in desulfurized gypsum. The results showed that the macro element contents were very poor, but in contrast, the middle and trace elements were relatively rich and the average contents of calcium, iron, zinc and manganese were 281560, 8063, 15388, 1026 mg/kg, respectively. Heavy metal, chromium, lead and nickel contents were below the second level standard of the national cultivated land soil environment quality. Although cadmium content exceeded the national soil environment quality standard, it was still within the controlled standard of fly ash agricultural resource utilization. These showed that application of desulfurized gypsum to improve saline-sodic soil in proper amount would not have significant effects on the heavy metal contents in soil.
