Abstract: To screen suitable varieties of potato for winter planting and promote development of potato in Hainan, new potato varieties were introduced and selected. Comparative field experiment were carried out using five potato varieties, and their phenophase, agronomic characters, yield and disease resistance were investigated. The results indicate that ‘Hongyun’ and ‘Ziyang’showed good comprehensive traits, and their yield was recorded as 17778.15 and 20086.95 kg/hm2 respectively, which decreased by 1.98% and increased by 10.75% over control. The other varieties with common performance may be tested further under field conditions.‘Hongyun’ and ‘Ziyang’ which performed better in quality, yield, disease resistance and growth period were appropriate for winter planting and may be extended for demonstration in Hainan.
