Abstract: Climatic factors such as temperature, precipitation and so on play an important role in the distribution of tobacco and have an important effect on the yield and quality of tobacco. Based on historical climatic data over past 30 years in Shifang city, the principles of climatic changing characteristics for sun-cured tobacco area were observed. The results showed, the average annual temperature and precipitation increased obviously during the past 30 years. For the sunshine hours during the past 30 years, there was no obviously trend to increase or decrease. In sum, the climatic conditions of Shifang area were relatively suitable for producing sun-cured tobacco, however, it was not suitable for the production of tobacco leaf to be the lower temperature and the less rainfall in the growth period and the less sun-shine hours and the more rainfall in the harvest period. Therefore, these results could facilitate our understanding of the principle and characteristics of climatic factors in sun-cured tobacco area and provide some helps of production of good tobacco leaf.
