Abstract: As one of the important indicators of soil quality, soil biological characteristics can characterize the process and trends of land change. Different cropping systems have different influences on soil biological characteristics. We examined peer- reviewed papers about the effects of continuous cropping and rotation planting mode on soil biological characteristics, especially on soil microbes, soil nematodes and soil enzyme activity, and pointed out the possibility of rational cropping system on soil quality restoration and research direction, put forward intensive farmland planting system optimization strategy, developed reasonable cropping system and provided a reference frame for the sustainable development of agriculture.
