Identification and Selection of Salt Tolerant Varieties in Germination Stage of Native Soybean Varieties

Abstract: Soybean is moderately salt tolerant, and its normal growth and development process is inhibited by salt stress. In this study, we measured the germination rate, germination potential, plant height, hypocotyl length, root length, lateral root number and dry matter accumulation of 18 soybean native varieties under NaCl treatment, found that the germination rate, germination potential, plant height, axis length, root length, lateral root number and dry matter accumulation showed downward trends under NaCl stress. One salt tolerant variety G08 was screened out, and the salt damage index was 18.00% . It proved that the germination potential, germination rate, plant height, hypocotyl length and root length were significantly correlated with salt tolerance among varieties, which could better reflect the salt tolerance of soybean. This study provided abundant data reference and parent materials for the salt-tolerant germplasm creation of soybean, and the data basis for improving the research on the salt tolerance of soybean germplasm resources and the utilization efficiency of saline soil.
