Abstract:

In order to identify resistance to chrysanthemum white rust (CWR), a pathogen of quarantine status in the whole world caused by Puccinia horiana Henn., visualization and microscopic examination were used to define six classes identification standards, and the methods of inoculation in vitro were optimized. The results indicated that two methods of inoculation in vitro were both as efficient as that in vivo. Bottled cuttings in vitro were better than petri dished leaves and a best inoculation method in vitro in our study. The optimized method described here is a safe and simple inoculation system to evaluate the susceptibility of chrysanthemums to CWR.
