Abstract:
Korla pear has been a well-known variety in China for a long time, but it has some defects such as small fruit size and large core. In order to maintain its good quality and overcome its shortcomings, cross breeding using Korla pear as the parent has been carried out since 1971. 351 seedlings of 6 pear cross combinations were used for studying the trends of inheritance for the main characters of pear fruit by analyzing the characters of the parents and their progenies. The results showed that the inheritance of fruit shape and flesh texture of the hybrid progenies was mainly trended to their parentage by 68.09% and 51.38% respectively. The fruit size of pear is a quantitative character, and the size of progenies appeared wide segregation. Most of the progenies have a smaller size and the heritability of each combination ranged from 68.91% to 117.51%, the average of which was 93.11%. The soluble solids content (SSC) of pear fruits presented the quantitative character, and the sexual progenies showed wide segregation. The average heritability of each combination was 97.49%.
