Abstract:

The aim of this study was to assess the efficiency of four markers (Vp1B3, Xgwm155, Xgwm269 and Xbarc170) in identifying wheat genotypes with higher PHS tolerance among 36 Chinese wheat landraces and main varieties (or lines) from Yellow-Huai Facultative Winter Wheat Region and Middle-Lower Yangtze Valley Winter Wheat Region. The germination indexes (GI) value of red wheat (5.1%) was significantly lower than white wheat (28.0%). Among products by the four markers, only 845bp of Vp1B3 can effectively distinguish among the 36 wheat varieties (lines). Three of screened six white wheat cultivars with GI < 10%, can be further identified by the marker Vp1B3. They can be used in wheat Pre-harvest sprouting resistance breeding in Yellow-Huai Facultative Winter Wheat Region and Middle-Lower Yangtze Valley Winter Wheat Region.
