Application of Gray Evaluation Method of Hybrid Combinations in Maize Hybrids

Abstract:

In order to select fine combinations in growth vigour and quality scientifically and accurately from lots of them, and plant and select again in the next year. The hybrid combinations F1of maize inbred line were evaluated, analyzed and separated by Gray Evaluation Method, according to the analysis results. It will provide helpful information for selection of hybrid combinations F2. Using gray evaluation method of hybrid combinations, economical characters and quality traits of F1 derived from full-diallel cross test of five selfing line parent strains were evaluated and analyzed. Hybrid combination F1 was separated into three classes, first-class combinations should be expanded to the scale of cultivation in next year, and selected carefully in all subsequent generations. Second-class combination should be cultivated in proper scale, and selected better generations again. Third-class combination should be eliminated if there are no special advantages.
