Abstract:

In order to evaluate the impact of Odontotermes formosanus to cultivation of Dictyophora. this study was performed to study the food choice of Odontotermes formosanus to 5 materials (Dictyophora, bamboo, Juncao meal, Juncao compost for Dictyophora, bamboo compost for Dictyophora) by the observation of the foraging behavior of this termite. The results showed that consumption rate of Juncao meal and bamboo were significantly higher than others’, and the consumption rate of Dictyophora was 0. Meanwhile the mud sheet area and mud sheet covering rate of Juncao meal and bamboo were significantly higher than others’ too. These all indicated that the volatile substances the mycelium and sporocarp of Dictyophora send out could inhibit termites’ feeding. And the harms of termites for Dictyophora were mainly damage of cultivation materials.
