Abstract:

With the economic development and industrial structure adjustment recently, livestock and poultry breeding industry is developing rapidly while the amount of excrement production is rapidly increasing. Taking advantage of excretion factors in the first national census of pollution sources and relevant references, considering livestock and poultry breeding cycle, this paper estimated the amount of livestock and poultry excrement of China was about 2.218 billion tons of pig manure equivalent. What’s more, three provinces’ including Henan, Shandong, Sichuan and Inner Mongolia volumes were all over 150 million tons of pig manure equivalent. Based on the demand for livestock products in 2020, this paper estimated the amount of excrement production was about 2.825 billion tons of pig manure equivalent. Estimating the amount of manure production was propitious to recognize the volume and distribution of livestock and poultry excrement meanwhile lay a foundation for the selection of animal excrement treatment methods and the formulation of relevant policies.
