Abstract:
In order to establish genetic improvement research foundation of Toona ciliate, the author studied on seedling propagation of 20 Toona ciliate elite trees progenys of Hunan and investigated the growth condition of seedling height and ground diameter. After statistically analyzing, 4 fast-growing improved families in seedling period of of Toona ciliate were screened out based on selecting rate of 20%, those were TC-5, TC-6, TC-12 and TC-15. The average seedling height of 4 fast-growing improved families was 86.87 cm, which was 16.1% larger than that of whole 20 families with the figure of 74.85 cm. The average ground diameter of 4 fast-growing improved families was 10.4 mm, which was 10.6% larger than that of whole 20 families with the figure of 9.4 mm. There were extremely significant differences both in seedling height and ground diameter among families. It showed that there was good selecting and breeding potentiality among half-sib families for their abundant variation. However, the growth performance in seedling period could not demonstrate the growth law during whole life time but could help researchers finish early selection of selecting and breeding of Toona ciliate improved families.
