Abstract: To determine whether the active ingredients of antiviral TCM induce the production of IFN-γ by cultured MVECs in vitro, the effects of andrographolide, ginsenoside Rb1, matrine, chlorogenic acid and glycyrrhetinic acid on it were assayed by ELISA method. The results showed that these five components all played significantly effect to IFN-γ production (P<0.01). Andrographolide, ginsenoside Rb1matrine chlorogenic acid and glycyrrhetinic acid at 5.0 mg/L, 20.0 mg/L,20.0 mg/L, 5.0 mg/L and 5.0 mg/L were higher than10.0 mg/L, 20.0 mg/L,40.0 mg/L, 10.0 mg/L and 10.0 mg/L,respectively. And 10.0 mg/L chlorogenic acid or glycyrrhetinic acid have lower roles than at 5.0 mg/L. The results suggested that above five components all could induced the secretion of IFN-γ in cultured IMMVECs and further play their antiviral functions which provide experimental basis for explaining the antiviral mechanism of TCM.
