Abstract: The pot experiment of lettuce was carried out with an application of two kinds of substrates and three types of fertilizer. The results indicated that a number of leaves、fresh weight of root root activity and leaf chlorophyll content of lettuce fertilized with complex of organic fertilizer plus inorganic fert, ilizer were best in the two substrates and it significantly increased fresh weight of leaf and diameter of shoot compared with only application of organic fertilizer or inorganic fertilizer. There were no significant differences on fresh weight of root 、number of leaves、fresh weight of leaf、leaf chlorophyll content between only organic fertilizer and only inorganic fertilizer in the two substrates. The root activity of lettuce fertilized with only inorganic fertilizer was significantly higher than the treatment of only organic fertilizer, but the diameter of shoot of lettuce fertilized with only inorganic fertilizer in mixed substrates was significantly lower than the treatment of only organic fertilizer. The root activity and leaf chlorophyll content of lettuce grown in mixed substrates were higher than those inorganic substrates, moreover, it significantly increased the fresh weight of leaf and a number of leaves. Therefore, lettuce was fertilized with organic fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer in mixed substrate is effective to improve yield.
