Abstract: Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) was detected by ELISA and RT-PCR methods to investigate the distribution and diversity of viruses infecting vegetable crops grown in Beijing suburban greenhouses. Leave samples of 10 vegetable crops were collected and then tested. Identical results were obtained by both ELISA and RT-PCR methods showed that 6 samples of celery, ornamental pumpkin, lettuce, peppers, eggplant and tomato ‘Dahongpao’ were positive while the other 4 samples of great pumpkin, brussels sprouts, four winged bean and tomato ‘Rome red’ were negative to CMV. In our study, the reliability of the results was confirmed by sequencing and sequence analysis of the RT-PCR products from the positive samples.
