Abstract: The paper aims to grasp the seasonal variation characteristics of the Halophyte community in desert grassland of Minqin, provide a scientific basis for desert grassland protection, productivity recover and reasonable utilization. This article adopted line transects method and sample method to investigate Kalidium foliatum community and Phragmites communis community of saline desert grassland in Minqin. Through the survey data of May, July and September, the composition and seasonal characteristics of Kalidium foliatum community and Phragmites communis community were analyzed. The results showed that: the composition of halophyte community shrub layer associated species was relatively stable, the coverage of Kalidium foliatum community shrub layer and herb layer was the largest in July; the coverage of Phragmites communis community shrub layer and herb layer had reached the maximum in September. Herbaceous companion species composition of Kalidium foliatum community and Phragmites communis community changed a little with seasons from May to September, plant species, coverage and crown width of Kalidium foliatum community herb layer were the largest in July; plant species, coverage and crown width of Phragmites communis community herb layer gradually increased and reached the maximum in September, the structure had become complex. This was mainly due to climate characteristics of saline desert grassland in Minqin, physiological and ecological characteristics of the plant, and the distribution of site conditions determined by the discrepancy.
