Problems of Left-behind Children in Rural Area of Western Industrial City —— Taking Baoji as an Example

Abstract: In order to provide reference for helping the government departments to solve the problems of leftbehind children, lifestyle of left-behind children, general children and migrant children from 4 towns of Baoji City were investigated and compared using questionnaire survey and home interview. The results showed that left-behind children had more problems in family care, life, study, psychology, health and safety. Left-behind children could not receive proper educational guidance from their less- educated guardians. Academic performance of left- behind children was not good as housework occupied too much learning time and the learning efficacy was low. The absence of companion leaded to the children’ s autism and left-behind children were characterized by diffidence and inferiority. The weak awareness of security and health might lead to many related problems. Solving the problems of left- behind children in Baoji City needs cooperation of family, school, society and government.
