Abstract: Tomato early blight, also known as‘ring rot’or‘summer disease’ , is a serious worldwide plant fungal disease caused by Alternaria solani. The applications of yeast, actinomycetes and bacteria in the microbial control of tomato early blight are reviewed in this paper. With the continuous progress of science and technology, microbial control, which has a good control effect on the disease and is harmless to human being and the environment, will replace chemicals and become the main control means to tomato early blight, but its large-scale exploitation as biocontrol agents is still a problem. The prospects and potential problems in future research on the microbial control of tomato early blight are also discussed.
