Abstract: Ammopiptanthus mongolicus (Maxim.) Cheng f., endemic to the semi-arid desert region of northwest China, is a rare and endangered evergreen leguminous shrub. Due to its long growth in a terribly atrocious entironment, it has a very strong resistant capability. The mechanism of drought, freezing, salt and sand stress tolerant capabilities that make A. mongolicus survive in the extreme adverse circumstances and the harsh reasons that the species could head adapted to was analyzed. The great value and usable prospect of A.mongolicus were proposed.
