Abstract: According to the sequence of Ghrelin gene in GenBank, we designed a pair of primers, then cloned the special fragment of the full-length Ghrelin gene including the first and second exons as well as the first intron. The fragment was sequenced, and the correlation of this gene with 12 meat quality indexes of Coke pig was analyzed. The results showed that only one base mutation, G252A, was detected on the first intron, thus the Ghrelin gene presented two genotypes, homozygotic GG and heterozygous GA. Frequency of GG genotype was higher than that of GA genotype, and reached 65.4%. Allele G was the advantage gene, and characterized by low polymorphism.χ 2 test showed this SNP was in Hardy-Weinberg balance (P>0.05). The least square analysis showed that site 252 bp of Ghrelin gene had no significant correlation with meat quality indexes (P>0.05).
