Abstract: The research was carried out on the effects of plant-type and yield characteristics on their grain yield and grain nutrients, based on regional test materials of glutinous maize. The results showed that grain yield and most of yield characteristics of compact-type hybrid are higher than that of flat-type hybrid. The most three important factors are spike length and spike diameter and 1000 grains weight for the grain yield. There are very obvious differences of grain nutrients and peel thickness between hybrids. Compact-type, high grain nutrients, thin grain peel, and large spike and grain weight can be regarded as selecting main aims of glutinous maize hybrids.
