Abstract: Based on the data of the forest management inventory from 1998 to 2002 in Yanqing, Beijing, the forest resources and issues related to forest resource management were discussed. The results were as followed. The ratio of the area and volume of protective forest were 47.13% and 89.41% respectively, while those of the plantation were 0.40% and 0.29%. The area of mixed forest overweight that of pure stands significantly and forest structure was too simple. Also the ratio of the area of middle-young stands was 88.2% and so too much work of forest tending was needed. According to the area of the origin of forests, the original and secondary forests were greatest, followed by plantation forests and aerial forests. As a result, according to the theory such as the sustainable forestry development and the classified forest management, the measures and suggestions were put forward in this paper.
