Genetic Analysis of Quality Characters in Early Hybrid Rice

Abstract: The eating quality of early rices in china is rather poor. To provide theoretical basis for selection of early hybrid rice combinations in good quality, 8 hybrid rice sterile lines of commonly used were crossed with 12 early hybrid rice restorer lines(cultivars) by incomplete diallel cross(NC Ⅱ)design to make 96 combinations of early hybrid rice. The genetics for 12 quality characters of these combinations and their parents were analysed. The results showed that there are very significant heredity differences between combinations in quality characters of 96 early hybrid rice combinations. General combining ability variances percentage of quality characters of early hybrid rice combinations in total genotypic variances are all superior to 50%,except brown rice recovery, milled rice recovery, gel consistency and protein content. The effect of male parent to Quality characters of early hybrid rice combinations are bigger than that of female parent, except brown rice recovery and milled rice recovery. The correlations among genotypic coefficients ,genetic coefficients and correlative heritability are all very significant positive.The follows indirect selections in quality characters of early hybrid rice are all higher: chalky area to chalky score,chalky rice percentage to chalky score and brown rice recovery to milled rice recovery. Else two quality characters indirect selections are all low relatively.
